Lawndale, CA – Lawndale Rotary Club presented nearly 300 new dictionaries to every 3rd grader at Anderson and FDR Elementary schools as part of their continued effort to support our local schools. In addition to the recent purchase of dictionaries, the Lawndale Rotary has a an ongoing program which provides small grants to teachers, which can be used for; books, technology and school supplies.
“The students and teachers greatly appreciate this kind of support for the schools.” said Dr. Ellen Dougherty District Superintendent for the Lawndale School District. “I was really surprised at how excited and appreciative the students were to receive these dictionaries.” commented Joe McMahon, Lawndale Rotary member. “Even in today’s high tech world, something as simple as having your own dictionary, can help a student do better in school.”
