Alice Su, guest, encouraged all of us to attend the Magnificent Chinese Dance Ensemble that will be at the Dorothy Chandler Music Center this coming weekend.
Our program for the day was our monthly Board Meeting
Treasurer’s Report –
Bob was absent, but Debbie gave the report that we have spent approximately $1000 since our last Board meeting. There was expenses of approximately $300 for the Christmas party, and $700 for 3 students to attend RYLA in the spring.
Club Service –
Debbie gave the dats of the upcoming meetings, speakers and events for the next month, listed above.
Vocational Service –
Also listed above is the date for the Officer and Firefighter of the Year (april 26) and the keynote speaker.
Debbie also encouraged members to read to students at Anderson School which will begin shortly. You do need a TB test (good for four years.)
We will donate $400 to each of the schools that helped with the fireworks stand, which includes, FD Roosevelt, Mark Twain and William Anderson Schools.
Debbie would like to recommend that we donate money for the children that use the Lawndale Library. There previously was a grant to buy books for children, who would receive one as a gift on their birthday. She recommended $400, which the members agreed/approved.
Community Service –
There will be a City Clean up on March 24th. We previously had one in September.
We had a Wipeout graffiti in July
Rotary Day of Service on Mar. 17th. This will be different. There will be projects selected by the District, and we will get on buses for the project of our choice.
Jim Reported that he sent $6000 to RI about two months ago for our contributions to the Foundation. We will have a Paul Harris Recognition on March 22nd this year to recognize the newest PH Fellows.
Bev reported that our Proclamation from the City of Lawndale was on the local cable television.
Ellen Daugherty and Debbie Holland mentioned that there was an article in the Lawndale News regarding the Club.
